I'm getting errors saying I need to "verify my account" but when I click the link in the app nothing happens. At this point Outlook and Teams aren't updating because of the error.

Let me start by saying I'm not an IT professional so please be patient.

My office is using a server and our computers are setup as work stations. I think I remember our IT guy saying we have a "domain login" and we are only supposed to use passwords to login. I'm a big ole dummy and setup windows hello for facial recognition / pin to login to my computer in the mornings. Everything was working fine for about 6 months. I decided to use remote desktop from home to login to my office computer and since that point in time I'm now getting errors saying I need to "verify my account". The error seems to be across the board. Basically any connected office products aren't working properly (outlook and teams are my main concern). We have an IT professional and I love him to death, but he troubleshot the issue and said it's a busted profile. I just wanted to see if there is anyone else encountering this issue or may have a fix. I tried removing the additional login methods and it's like it won't even give me the option to stop using or remove the facial recognition and PIN. I changed passwords and that didn't fix it either. I think part of it has to do with the "verify my account" link. I click it and nothing happens...it's like it's failing to launch a dialogue box that would allow me to verify. I've restarted several times throughout this process. I REALLY don't want to rebuild my profile if it can be avoided. It takes months to get back to where I was at with my settings. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    Hi Barrett Perry,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

    1. Check network connection and remote desktop settings

Ensure stable network connection: Remote Desktop connection requires a stable network connection. Check the connection status of your home and office networks to make sure there are no interruptions or instabilities.

Check Remote Desktop Settings: On your office computer, make sure the Remote Desktop service is properly set up and allows connections from your home network address.

    1. Verify account information and permissions

Verify account information: Make sure the account information (username and password) you are using is correct and that the account has permissions for remote desktop access.

Check account status: Sometimes accounts may be locked or disabled for security reasons. Contact your IT staff to check the account status and make sure the account is active.

    1. Troubleshooting “Verify My Account” Issues

Clear browser cache and cookies: Sometimes browser cache and cookies may prevent the verification link from working properly. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies and revisiting the verification link.

Using a different browser or device: Try accessing the verification link using a different browser or device to troubleshoot browser or device compatibility issues.

Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps resolves the issue, there may be a problem with the Microsoft account verification system. You can try contacting Microsoft Support for assistance.

    1. Consider alternative login methods

Use a VPN: If possible, using a VPN to connect to your office network may bypass some of the limitations and errors of remote desktop connections.

Reset PIN and Facial Recognition: While you mentioned that you can't remove or stop the use of facial recognition and PIN, you can try resetting these login methods in your account settings and then reconfiguring them.

    1. Reconstruct personal data (if necessary)

Back up important data: before deciding to rebuild your profile, be sure to back up all important data.

Consult with IT: If all else fails and you believe that rebuilding your profile is the only solution, consult with your IT staff and understand the detailed steps and potential impact of the rebuilding process.

    1. Check connectivity to office products such as Outlook and Teams

Ensure services are working: Check that services such as Outlook and Teams are working properly and that you are not experiencing any known connectivity issues.

Reconfigure accounts: If Outlook and Teams are not working properly, try reconfiguring the account settings for these services on your computer.

    Best regards

    Neuvi
