Dear Team,

This is giving a headache because no solution is present on other platforms to solve this problem, and Microsoft troubleshooting is not able to resolve it.

windows repair was done using sfc and DISM but still indexing showing paused rebuilding also not solving this issue, our multiple users facing issues so we format or reinstalled Windows in that case!

    Hello Rahul Masal,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

Here are some additional steps you can try:

    1. **Restart Windows Search Service:**
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
      • Scroll down and find "Windows Search".
      • Right-click on "Windows Search" and select "Restart".
    2. **Check Indexing Options:**
      • Go to Settings > Search > Searching Windows.
      • Under "Find My Files", select "Enhanced" and then switch back to "Classic".
      • Click on "Advanced Search Indexer Settings" and then "Rebuild" under Troubleshooting.
    3. **Check Disk Space:**
      • Ensure that the drive where Windows is installed has enough free space. Low disk space can cause issues with indexing.
    4. **Reset Windows Search Settings:**
      • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
      • Run the following commands:
sc config WSearch start=delayed-auto net stop WSearch net start WSearch
      • This will reset the Windows Search service to delayed start and restart it.
    5. **Permissions Issue:**
      • Ensure that the folders you want to index have the correct permissions.
      • Right-click the folder, go to Properties > Security.
      • Ensure that the system account has the necessary permissions.
    6. **Registry Fix:**
      • Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
      • Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search
      • Ensure that there are no incorrect settings that might be causing the issue.
    7. **Monitor for Indexing Errors:**
      • Use Event Viewer to check for indexing-related errors and warnings.
      • Press Win + R, type eventvwr.msc, and hit Enter.
      • Navigate to Windows Logs > Application and check for any errors related to search or indexing.

    Hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

    Lei

    Dear Team,

this is a major issue showing indexing is paused or indexing paused due to user activity, which doesn't have any solution, and the indexing troubleshooter also didn't work for this issue. Please release a patch for this because indexing is paused or stuck on any number after the rebuild is done.

windows repair SFC and DISM are also not helpful in this situation.
