Printing in Edge and Chrome

I'm currently using Windows 11 Enterprise version 23H2 (Build 22631.3007) with Microsoft Edge version 121.0.2277.128 and Google Chrome.

When attempting to print (using the Control+P shortcut) in both Edge and Chrome, the prints are consistently coming out in black and white, despite selecting color printing options. The only workaround I've found is to use the system print dialog (accessed via Shift+Control+P), which bypasses the print preview in both browsers
.

While researching this issue, I've encountered suggestions on various message boards indicating that modifying registry keys might resolve the problem. However, I'm hesitant to attempt this solution myself due to potential risks.

Could you please assist me in resolving this problem without resorting to manual registry modifications? Additionally, is there a way to set the system print dialog as the default printing method to avoid this issue altogether in both Edge and Chrome?

    Hello Rossism_Sam,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft customer support. I understand that you are experiencing an issue with printing in color from Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on your Windows 11 Enterprise device.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and navigate to the page you want to print.
    2. Press the Ctrl + Shift + P keys to open the system print dialog.
    3. In the print dialog, select your printer and click on the "Printer Properties" or "Preferences" button.
    4. In the printer properties or preferences window, look for an option to set the default print mode to color. This option may be located under a "Color" or "Quality" tab.
    5. Once you have selected the color printing option, click "OK" to save the changes.
    6. Close the printer properties or preferences window and click "Print" to print the page.

This should allow you to print in color from Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome without having to modify any registry keys.

Regarding your question about setting the system print dialog as the default printing method, unfortunately, this is not possible in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. The browsers are designed to use their own print preview and dialog boxes by default. However, you can use the Ctrl + Shift + P shortcut to open the system print dialog whenever you need to print in color.

I hope this helps resolve your issue. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,

    Bblythe Xiao

thank you for your time, I'm glad my question about "The browsers are designed to use their own print preview" has been answered even if it's not a great outcome.
