I have Bitlocker enabled and must enter a PIN at bootup. I would like to make the necessary config changes to continue using Bitlocker encryption but disable the bootup PIN.

Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26100.2605)

HP Elitebook X360 1040 G6

Please, advise.

    Hello StateDawg,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

To disable the bootup PIN for BitLocker encryption, you can follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
    3. In the left pane, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > BitLocker Drive Encryption > Operating System Drives.
    4. In the right pane, double-click on "Require additional authentication at startup".
    5. Select the "Disabled" option and click OK.
    6. Close the Local Group Policy Editor.

Please note that disabling the bootup PIN may reduce the security of your device.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Lei

Yeah, already tried that. Didn't help. Still prompts me for Bitlocker PIN at startup.

    Any other suggestions?
