Not able to add personal account

All,

I have a an issue on my Windows 11 Pro computer. This computer is registered in a domain (not with Azure in the cloud but localy on a Windows Server 2016).

It has worked in the past but suddenly Office 365 didn't worked as it was not licensed anymore and login with my microsoft account fails it goes then asking for a product key.

In m account my personal Microsoft Account was there but when I click on 'Manage' nothing happened. So, I removed my personal account but not able to add it again as nothing happens when I click on Add 'Microsoft Account' but when I click 'Add Work or school account' I get a popup.

It looks like that my machine does not allow to add a personal acount (or blocked it) .

I created a VM with Windows 11 Pro and added that one to the domain and hereafter I was still able to add a perssonal Microsoft account, so, it looks not related to a common part but more to my machine?

If have restored my system with a backup of last week, I can use now Office 365 but still have some issue to manage my Microsoft account, so, I'm afraid that Office 365 will stop working again. and needs to be activated by a productkey or login with my personal account but this will fail.

I created a media tool and will try to reinstall Windows 11 Pro, hopefully this will solve my issue.

    Hello  JohanValstar,

    Thank you for your reply.

It's possible that there is a setting or configuration within your user profile that is preventing you from adding your personal Microsoft account. Here are a few more things you could try:

    1. Check if there are any third-party antivirus or security software installed on your computer that might be blocking the addition of a personal Microsoft account. You could try temporarily disabling any such software and see if that resolves the issue.
    2. Try creating a new user profile on your computer and see if you're able to add your personal Microsoft account to that profile. If it works, then you could try transferring your files and settings to the new profile and continue using it instead of your old one.

    Best Regards,

    Haijian Shan

    Hello   JohanValstar,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

It sounds like you're having trouble adding your personal Microsoft account to your Windows 11 Pro computer.

Here are a few things you could try:

    1. Check if there are any group policies or settings on your domain that might be preventing you from adding a personal account.
    2. Make sure that your computer is up to date with the latest Windows updates and patches. Sometimes, issues like this can be resolved by installing the latest updates.
    3. Try creating a new local user account on your computer and see if you're able to add your personal Microsoft account to that account. If it works, then there might be an issue with your original user account.
    4. If all else fails, you could try reinstalling Windows 11 Pro on your computer. In fact, you seem to be ready to give it a try. So make sure to back up any important files before doing so.

In addition, it seems like your issue is related to Office 365, so you could try posting in the Office 365 section for help, as someone may have encountered the same issue.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Haijian Shan

    Hi Haijian Shan,

I think it's related to my personal account as if another domain user logs in onto my computer he/she is able add a microsoft account.

I have many programs installed and do not like to delete my profile, something within my profile (registry) is wrong and preventing to add a microsoft account.

Do you do have any idea to resolve this? I already re-installed Windows 11 Pro but without any success related to the issue I have.

    Kind regards,

    Johan Valstar
