Where can I find more information about the Windows NT kernel architecture running as a VM over Hyper-V

I understand from Windows Security --> Device Security --> Core Isolation:

  • Memory Integrity
  • Kernel-mode hardware-enforced stack protection
  • Memory access protection

These are all related to Windows NT kernel running as a VM on top of the hypervisor

Looking for more information about this, to understand and learn the architecture and design, thanks

    Hi,

For more information about the architecture you can refer to the following documents:

    1. Hyper-V Architecture: This document provides an overview of the Hyper-V architecture, including the role of the hypervisor, partitioning, and virtual devices. It explains how the hypervisor handles processor interrupts, memory management, and device access through the VMBus.

    2. Hyper-V Architecture Considerations: This document discusses the Type 1 hypervisor-based architecture of Hyper-V, including the virtualization stack in the root partition, memory management, and virtualized I/O devices. It also covers the performance and cost considerations of Hyper-V.
