Server 2016 Std failing latest Cumulative Updates

Hi, hope someone can help point me in the right direction. I have a Server 2016 Std VM that has been failing to install the latest cumulative update packages for the past few months, all other updates install fine. I've spent a lot of time with SFC and DISM, and I believe I have got it down to one missing update package.

DISM CBS log is showing 84 CBS Manifest Corruption entries, with 84 corresponding CBS Catalog Missing. All relate to the same KB:

(p) CBS Catalog Missing Package_3686_for_KB4507459~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.6

I've tried using various OS images to repair as well as other live servers that are working, but can't clear these missing packages. I also can't seem to locate KB4507459 on the Windows Update Catalogue site. So firstly, am I on the right path with thinking this is the source of my updating woes? And if it is, where can I locate the missing KB packages from?

Any help much appreciated!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to update.

Seems the CBS missing/ corruption points to KB4507459, it is a very old update released on July 16, 2019.

Unfortunately, I checked the windows update catalog and seems this update is too old so it is retied. Maybe manually fix by using this update package is not available right now.

Based on current situation, it is recommended to do in place upgrade to help fix CBS. You can use the same version ISO which is Server 2016 Std to do the operation, and dDuring the upgrade, Select Keep personal files and apps

Note: For the sake of double security, it is recommended that you back up your important data first to prevent unknown issue during the upgrade.

    Have a nice day.
