Dell Latitude 7420 Selecting & Deselecting Out of Current Window

Hello!

I have a Dell Latitude 7420 running Windows 11 Enterprise that was recently given to me by my workplace. Within the past week it has started selecting and de-selecting windows that are active, sometimes while I'm in the middle of typing so that it cuts me off from typing. The mouse never moves, and the windows never pop up in my screen besides the one I already have open, but the cursor will disappear and the window will 'fade' to show it's not currently selected.

I have tried disabling the touchpad, the keyboard, and the touchscreen to see if any of those are having phantom touch issues or something along those lines that may be impacting it, but haven't had any luck. I brought it back to tech and they also attempted disabling and reinstalling specific drivers (I'd have to ask which ones), as well as doing a wipe and resetting it completely. After the wipe it worked well for a day or two and then came back with even more frequent cycling than before.

Any help that you can give would be much appreciated!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to Dell Latitude 7420 Selecting & Deselecting Out of Current Window.

Firstly, try confirm on Dell website if your machine version is suitable to run win 11. Also, Dell laptops may come with built-in hardware diagnostics tools. You can run these diagnostics to check for any hardware issues.

Try install the latest windows update and check if there is available driver updates in device manger. Open a command prompt window by selecting Run as administrator and type verifier to open the Driver Verifier Manager.

Put the loading machine in safe mode, and then repeat the operation:
