Hello ,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.
Based on the problem you described, here are some possible causes and solutions, you can check them one by one:
- Although you mentioned that network discovery and file sharing are turned on, it is recommended to confirm again:
Open Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change advanced sharing settings.
Make sure "Enable network discovery" and "Enable file and printer sharing" are checked.
Also make sure the "Enable sharing with password protection" setting is turned off.
- If the network type is "Public", some devices may be hidden.
Click the network icon in the taskbar -> Select the currently connected network -> Check if the network type is "Private".
If it is "Public", change it to "Private".
- Windows turns off some older versions of the SMB protocol by default, which may cause the NAS to fail to display:
Open Control Panel ->Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off.
Make sure "SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing support" is enabled, then restart the computer.
- Open the Service Manager (services.msc), find these services and make sure the status is "Running":
Function Discovery Provider Host
Function Discovery Resource Publication
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
- Firewalls or third-party security software may block LAN communication:
Temporarily turn off the firewall and antivirus software to see if it returns to normal.
If it returns to normal, you can manually add exceptions for LAN sharing.
- If the device can be accessed via the IP address but cannot be displayed in the web browser, you can try to fix the IP address and map it manually:
Open File Explorer -> Enter \ in the address bar (for example, \192.168.1.100).
If it can be accessed, right-click the folder to be mapped, click "Map Network Drive", and assign it a drive letter.
- If you are using a Microsoft account to log in, check whether Windows synchronization settings (such as password synchronization) are turned on. Sometimes synchronization may overwrite local settings.
Log in to the system with a local account to rule out the possibility of account problems.
- Make sure your Wi-Fi network card driver and Windows system are up to date.
If you have recently updated the system or driver, you can also try to roll back to the old version to see if the problem is solved.
Confirm that the sharing permissions of the TerraMaster NAS are configured correctly, especially whether the workgroup name is consistent with your LAN.
Sometimes the NAS device may need to be restarted or the firmware updated.
I hope the information above is helpful.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Jill Zhou
