Trying to move RDS User CALs
I had 2 RDS servers, one being a license server. However that server is now dead and I need to move the MPSA licenses from it to the other server. I am unable to migrate our licenses for some reason. It just tells me that it cannot be done.
I am trying to contact Microsoft Support, but it is like trying to milk a stone. An automated attendant seems to think I want to activate windows and just tells me to go to the activation website then hangs up. Even if I call again, it goes straight to that response, No option to speak to a human just a robot repeatedly hanging up on me.
I try the services hub, but comes back with:
"We were unable to find an eligible support plan associated with your account. Please add a support plan from the options below."
Underneath is no option for any support plans, even if I had one or knew what format it should be in.
It then offers the useful suggestion of asking a question.
So here I am. 30 RDS Cals that we are unable to get working and Microsoft has me in an infinite loop of offering support, then hanging up on me and offering no support whatsoever.
Can someone advise me how I can bypass the useless MS AI attendant loop? I've tried shouting "Speak to human" down the phone and mashing keys, but it just says "Go to this website. Thank you", then hangs up.
TIA

2024-02-08T17:00:04+00:00 I suggest you contact the Microsoft Windows Activation/Clearinghouse number: 1-888-571-2048.
Once you pass the recording question and security prompt, audibly request Other then Remote Desktop License.
This should get you out of your loop and forward your call to a representative (after holding for some time).
Your licensing server ID on your replacement server may be invalid/improper based on how you installed and activated the replacement generating the Error 800 by the online activation process.

2024-02-09T09:45:14+00:00 I'm in the UK, so that number won't be free. The number I had was +44 (0)344 800 2400 but as soon as I call, it tells me to go to the Microsoft activation website and hangs up. I'm not sure if this is the UK equivalent of the clearing house.

2024-02-09T12:07:34+00:00 You can use Skype, which is part of every Microsoft account, to place the phone call for free even without a credit balance. Skype for Web can be used in most Chrome and Edge browsers without issue. Another documented US toll-free contact number you can try is: 1-800-936-3100. Once you get through to someone, hopefully they can either assist you or redirect you to an alternate contact number in the UK, if one is available.
