Hello Richard Shapland,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.
Windows Server 2022 Essentials does support Remote Desktop Services (RDS) for remote administration purposes. However, it is important to note that the Essentials edition has some limitations compared to the Standard or Datacenter editions of Windows Server.
One of the limitations of the Essentials edition is that it only allows a maximum of 25 user accounts and 50 devices to connect to the server. Additionally, it does not support some advanced features of RDS such as RemoteApp or RemoteFX.
Also, please note that RDP access is not enabled by default on Windows Server 2022 Essentials. You will need to enable it manually by following these steps:
- Open the Server Manager and navigate to the Local Server section.
- Click on the Remote Desktop hyperlink.
- In the System Properties window, click on the Remote tab.
- Under Remote Desktop, select the option to Allow remote connections to this computer.
- Click on the Select Users button and add the users who will be allowed to access the server via RDP.
- Click OK to save the changes.
I hope the information above is helpful.
If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
Haijian Shan
