W11 Pro PC Unable to Access Synology NAS

I'm having a problem with my new PC running Windows 11 Pro. When I try to map a drive and the credential pops up, it's not accepting my account and password. It says: "The username or password is incorrect" The account I'm using is confirmed in Windows (whoami) and I'm using the correct login and password I created on my NAS. This was working fine on my old Windows 10 PC.

I'm also unable to access my other Windows 10 PC that I'm using as a back-up server. Same issue.

Any ideas on what's different and how I can get this working on Windows 11? TIA

Thank you for reaching out. One possible reason for this issue could be that the Windows 11 PC is not able to authenticate with the Synology NAS or the Windows 10 PC due to a network configuration issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Try accessing the Synology NAS using the IP address instead of the hostname. (can you open the Synology's webui from the Windows 11 pc?)
    2. Try creating a new user account on the Synology NAS and use those credentials to access the shared folders.
    3. Check the firewall settings on the Windows 11 PC and ensure that it is not blocking the connection to the Synology NAS.
    4. Make sure the shares are not SMB1 only, this protocol has been disabled by default in Windows 11

Moving from Windows 10 to 11 can cause network drive mapping problems due to setting and protocol changes. The solutions cover SMB settings, security policies, and NAS compatibility checks.
Test your connection after each change. If these don't work, contact your NAS manufacturer's support for specific advice.
Keep Windows and drivers updated, as patches often fix these issues.

It's because the older protocols, MS can't SPY ON YOU in order to aggregate and sell advertisers data. You are no longer a customer, YOU are a COMMODITY to them. It's all about the benjis. Check NTLM settings and see if lowering (thereby blocking MS spies) helps.

Specific to try - Network Security LAN Manager Authentication level: Send NLMV2 response only.

Really hope you can help. My other Windows 11 and Windows 10 machines connect fine to my Synology NAS, but this new installation does not.

The NAS shows up under Network, but will not give me the login screen - just error" 0x80070035: Network path was not found".

I can connect in File manager with the IP address, but not from server icon listed under Network.

I turned on SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and SMB Direct (was on by default). But no change.

What else do I need to do?

If you have any suggestion it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Burt
