    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on your description, here are the possible causes and solutions:

    1. Your message indicates that the driver may lack a valid secure directory. Windows has strict security requirements for printer drivers, and only certified drivers can load properly. Therefore, you need to make sure that you are using the latest version of the Star MCP30 driver. You can go to the printer manufacturer's official website to download and install the latest drivers.
    2. Windows updates may affect the compatibility of some drivers in your system, preventing some older or unsigned printer drivers from loading. If you already have a driver but don't have a valid digital signature, consider using a tool to re-sign it or contact the manufacturer to request an update.
    3. This error can also occur if the current user does not have sufficient permissions to install or modify the printer driver. When attempting to install or add a printer, run the relevant program with administrator privileges. This ensures that you have sufficient permissions for the installation of the driver.
    4. In some organizational environments, the installation of printer drivers may be restricted through Group Policy. If you're in an enterprise environment, you can ask your system administrator to check your Group Policy settings to make sure there's no policy that prohibits the installation of mobile printer drivers.

Finally, you can also view more detailed event user data based on the error message prompts, which may give you more contextual information about the error.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,

    Jill Zhou
