Hi, i'm trying to use Amazon Alexa to WoL my pc, just for commodity, but from easy turned to be very hard and challenging and now it's serious business, i hope this will be a post that will help me but also helps anyone who'll try to resolve it aswell.

Normally, as tutorials says, you should be able to WoL from Alexa using the appropriate skill that you can find here, it's very easy,i installed it on my pc, bought the license to connect myamazon account and pcdevice, mac address ok, they see each other and till here, everything is fine.

Enabled Wol in BIOS.

Played around in the bios with Secure Boot, S4-S5 and PCI-e turn on.

In device manager, switched the options regarding magic packets in advanced options of my ethernet integrated device:

-PME: enabled

-Wait on link: enabled

-Turn on link settings: forced

-Turn on Pattern Match: enabled

-Turn on Magic Packet: enabled

-Ethernet on Power save: Disabled

In power saving settings, switched from power save to maximum prestation, i did this just to be sure.

Runned the following commands in Microsoft PowerShell (Admin) to allow Microsoft Antivirus to let in the packets:

  • netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=“WoL_UDP” dir=in action=allow profile=any localport=9 protocol=UDP edge=yes
  • netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=“WoL_TCP” dir=in action=allow profile=any localport=9 protocol=TCP edge=yes

Opened Router settings and allowed port 9 to be open in TCP and UDP on my pc ipv4 address.

Updated Alexa app.

I really don't know what else i should do, why does it just only shuts off the pc but not turn it on from zero? I'll state the important hw here:

Motherboard :Asus Rog Strix x570-f gaming

Ethernet onboard: Intel I211 Gigabit Network Connection

    Hello,

Based on the information you provided I would suggest that you open the Device Manager and find the appropriate network adapter then right click on properties and in the Power Management tab make sure the "Allow this device to wake the computer" and "Only allow magic packets to wake the computer" boxes are enabled.

    Best Regards

    Zunhui
