Hello,
Check if you can find the remote desktop connection app in the system file C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe.
If the MSTSC app is listed there, you can manually associate it with .rdp file.
- Right-click on any
.rdp
file. - Select "Open with" and then choose "Choose another app".
- If the desired application (e.g., Remote Desktop Connection) is not in the list, click on "More apps", then scroll down and click on "Look for another app on this PC".
- Browse to the location of the executable for the application you want to use to open .rdp files, typically found in
C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe
. - Once you've selected the correct executable, check the box that says "Always use this app to open .rdp files".
- Click "OK". Now, all .rdp files should be opened with the chosen application by default.
Regards,
Karlie
