Hello grod3103,

each recovery key has a unique key ID, which will also be different if you are using a different recovery key.

This issue may be caused by the recovery key you have entered is not the correct one for the drive you are trying to access. Please make sure that you have entered the correct recovery key for the specific drive you are trying to access.

If you are sure that the key you entered is correct but still having trouble, you can try the following steps:

  1. Make sure that the drive is connected to the computer and is powered on.
  2. Restart the computer and try entering the recovery key again.
  3. Check if you have multiple recovery keys associated with your Microsoft account. You can do this by logging into your Microsoft account and checking the BitLocker recovery keys section.
  4. Verify that the recovery key you have matches the correct drive. You can do this by comparing the key ID with the one associated with the drive.

Hope it helps.

Kind regards,

Lei

    Hi,

    the Key ID is unique to each drive and cannot be changed. If the key you can't find out, please contact Microsoft Support team (Global Customer Service phone numbers - Microsoft Support) for further assistant. They may be able to provide additional ideas.

    Thanks for your answer. But the original computer was fried, I took the drive out and mounted it on another computer. The recovery key is the only;y one in my Microsoft account for this computer. I think my issue is with the Key ID, they are different? Here is what I get from command line.

    system32>manage-bde -protectors -get f:
    BitLocker Drive Encryption: Configuration Tool version 10.0.19041
    Copyright (C) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    Volume F: [Label Unknown]
    All Key Protectors

    TPM:
      ID: {}
      PCR Validation Profile:

    Numerical Password:
      ID: {}

    When I go to Microsoft and get the key I get this?

    Key IDRecovery key

    any Ideas?
