For some reason I am prompted for a Bitlocker Recovery KeyID. My keyboard will not type letters, only numbers. I can get into my Microsoft account on my phone. Can I unlock my laptop from my phone?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to cannot enter alpha letters.

     1. Open settings/ time&language, check your language settings and keyboard settings.

    1. Use a different keyboard to see if this issue can be fixed.
    2. Press the Num Lock key on your keyboard to toggle between numeric and alphabetic input.
    3. If you have a laptop, you might need to use the Fn key in combination with the Num Lock key to switch modes.

Additionally, the 48-digit BitLocker recovery password will be like below format:

    111111-222222-333333-444444-555555-666666-777777-888888

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly

Bitlocker recovery keys are only numbers.

None of the suggestions work for me. My laptop does not have a num lock and the key ID listed for me is a combination of Alfa and numbers. Anything else I can do?

In addition the Recovery Key (to identify my key) runs a pattern of 28 A (alpha) and # (numbers) like A#AAA#A#-#AA#-#A#A-#A#A#AA##AA# and I cannot exit and continue with windows 11. It takes me back to, reset my PC (says there is a problem doing that) AND NONE of the options under the Advanced troubleshooting screen work.
