Windows bitlocker locked out

Hi,

I was having trouble with internet connection not working on my Asus Zenbook UX433F laptop and not able to figure it out so tried to enter diagnostic mode, however in this process I have entered a nightmare. In the process of rebooting my windows pin and password were somehow reset so I could no longer login. When trying to get around this it asked for my Bitlocker recovery key, which I have now learnt was unfortunately likely affiliated to my university email address which is now closed and I do not have access to.

I have tried logging into the university windows account to change the associated email so I can gain access but with out the university tech team enabling my account I cannot seem to get access this way. I have tried to find any other work around and have come up blank. I have requested to be given access by the university to my old email address but they are taking weeks to get back to me.

Is there any way to change my university windows account that is associated with my Bitlocker recovery key to my personal windows account which says the laptop is one of my "devices" however when I go into the Bitlocker data protection "manage recovery keys" it says "you don't have any BitLocker recovery keys uploaded to your Microsoft account".

Thank you in advance if anyone has time to help.

Kind regards,

Danny

I will say that I don't remember ever setting up a Bitlocker key, and I saw it appear in the "this PC" for the first time recently and wondered what it was. This being on a 6 year old laptop. So seeing many people say they never set up a bitlocker and are now locked out is making me worried
