Mobile Hotspot not appearing in Network Connections in Windows on ARM

When running windows on ARM, the mobile hotspot network does not appear in the network connections control panel, so no advanced configuration can be made on the hotspot network. The purpose would be to route a TAP Adapter VPN connection to the hotspot, but without this appearing or being editable in the network connections panel this is currently not possible.

OS Build: Windows 11 24H2 26100.2605

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on your description, here are some possible solutions and suggestions to help you solve this problem:

    1. The Windows on ARM driver may not be fully compatible with some hardware, causing the mobile hotspot function to not display properly. Make sure all drivers for your Surface Pro 11 are up to date. You can check for updates through Windows Update, or visit Microsoft's official website to download the latest drivers.
    2. Some versions or settings of Windows 11 may limit the advanced configuration options of the mobile hotspot.
    3. The configuration of the TAP adapter or other network adapter may affect the display and function of the mobile hotspot.
    4. Make sure your VPN client supports routing traffic on the mobile hotspot. Some VPN clients may require specific configuration to work on the hotspot.
    5. In Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings, try resetting the network settings. This will reset all network adapters and restore the default settings, which may solve some configuration problems.
    6. Use Windows' Event Viewer to see if there are any errors or warning messages related to network connections, which may provide more clues.

If the problem persists, you can also try contacting Surface support for professional help with Windows on ARM.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,

    Jill Zhou
