CPU Support clarification question regarding AMD Ryzen Family for Windows Server 2022

Hi

I am trying to cobble together a small workstation that will run Windows Server 2022. On the processor requirements page the AMD Ryzen Family is listed for Windows Server 2022. I wanted to get clarification if the Ryzen Family includes the Threadripper Pro Series, Specifically the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7980X 350W. I just want to make sure before we spend the money on this purchase.

If you could clarify it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to CPU support Server 2022.

Here is the official information about the requirement:

    Windows Server 2022 Up through the following 13th Generation Intel Processors (Core i3-13xxx, Pentium G5xxx, G7400 and G7400T, Celeron G49xx); First through Fifth Gen Xeon SP processors (x1xx, x2xx, x3xx, x4xx, x5xx); Xeon 6 SP processors (67xxE); Xeon E 23xx and 24xx; Xeon D 17xx, 21xx, and 27xx; and Atom C33xx Up through the following AMD 7th generation processors (AMD A-Series Ax-9xxx & E-Series Ex-9xxx & FX-9xxx), AMD Ryzen Family, AMD EPYC 7xx1, AMD EPYC 7xx2, AMD EPYC 7xx3, AMD EPYC 4xx4, AMD EPYC 8xx4, AMD EPYC 9xx4, and AMD EPYC 9xx5

However, regarding whether AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7980X 350W supports Server 2022, it is recommended to check in AMD website.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly

I provide the link to the same table in my question so pasting it again does not really help.

I am asking for clarification of a definition used on a https://learn.microsoft.com/ page. Only MS can clarify what is intended on their own website. That is not AMD's job. MS should be able to answer questions about their own website, AMD did not write that MS did. This response is a non-answer. I request that you please follow up with a proper response.

Again, please tell me what is covered by the term AMD Ryzen Family of processors.

    Hello,

I recommend that you repost your question to AMD if cannot find specific info about AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7980X 350W in AMD website, because this is a product designed by the manufacture.

From the Microsoft public information, we can confirm AMD Ryzen Family support Server 2022.

    Best regards,

    Molly

I am asking what is covered under AMD Ryzen Family? MS wrote it not AMD. Since the CPU name has Ryzen in it, is MS confirming it would work. Who authored the page can you ask them rather than repeating the same information I referenced as being confusing in my original question.

For the record AMD sent me here and rightfully so....

Unfortunately, in this forum do not have the access the ask the authorizer of document, above information is all we can get. What is covered under AMD Ryzen Family is technically out of Microsoft Community forum range. It is also recommended to check with the processor/license seller before you phurchase
