Hello,

I have a server 2022 standard where i use Microsoft Server Backup.

The was a security audit and they have to change the backup to a encrypted backup this for security reasons when someone gets the external disks....

Is there a easy way to convert the standard Windows Server backup to a encrypted one.

The backup is on dedicated usb hard disks only used for backing up so when the external disks are encrypted it will be ok.

The backup needs of course reliable so when there is a problem that there is a way to do a complete restore on a easy way this when the disks are encrypted.

Thanks

    Hi Cauberghe Didier,

Windows Server Backup cannot create encrypted backups nor convert the current backups to encrypted ones. However, you can enable the BitLocker Drive Encryption feature on your server and turn on BitLocker to encrypt the external drive used for backups.

Install BitLocker on Windows Server - Windows Security | Microsoft Learn
