Is it possible to use NPS as a NAC solution without integration with Active Directory, while being able to check the posture of PCs?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

As far as I know this is not possible, you cannot use NPS as a NAC solution without integrating with Active Directory.

Network Policy Server (NPS) can be used as part of a Network Access Control (NAC) solution, but it is typically used in conjunction with Active Directory (AD) to authenticate and authorize users and devices. NPS provides the RADIUS server functionality, which is often a component of NAC solutions, to enforce network access policies.

NPS alone does not have built-in capabilities to perform detailed device posture assessments (e.g., checking if antivirus is up to date, operating system patches are applied, etc.).

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best regards

    Yanhong Liu
