How many device CAL come with Windows Server 2022?

Needless to say, Microsoft's licensing program is not designed to be easily understood. So, my question is: How do I determine if I need additional device CAL licenses when I purchase a Windows 2022 server license? In the past, I haven't needed additional licenses.

Basically, I am purchasing a new server that will have Server 2022. It will operate in a small office setting with 6-7 employees. Do I need to purchase additional CAL device licenses or does the basic server 2022 license come with a certain amount of default CAL? Also, the users will be verifying their credentials with Active Directory on the server, but also use Microsoft 365. Now I see that there may need to be some additional licenses for that?

You can see how I am confused. The device vendor wants to sell CAL's but I am not sure I need to purchase them.

    Hello Jeffery Swain

You could verify the licensing details with your device vendor because different purchase channels can have different licensing arrangements.

For instance, on the Microsoft website, I observed that Windows Server 2022 offers options for 10 or 5 CALs.

The specific number of CALs required depends on your licensing needs and the number of devices or users accessing the server.

I recommend checking the licensing documentation provided with your Windows Server 2022 purchase or contacting Microsoft's licensing support for the most up-to-date information on CALs and licensing for your specific purchase.
