FTP issues after update?

Hi!

I'd like to verify if latest updates to Windows Server 2022 21H2 could have interfered with our FTP server.

Two updates came in on 12 June 2024:

  • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5039227)
  • Servicing Stack 10.0.20348.2522

And one the day before that:

  • Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5037930)

As our programmer started complaining about FTP connectivity since around that time, I rolled back updates KB5039227 & KB5037930. The Servicing Stack couldn't be uninstalled. Our programmer is still complaining (files arrive with 0 bytes when copying to her system), but I don't have these issues, and I doubt anything server-side is causing problems.

Could the Service Stack be causing any issues, or should I try uninstalling more (security) updates?

Current situation:

Thanks.

    Hello COS&Timmy,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the official articles May 14, 2024-KB5037930 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows Server 2022 - Microsoft Support and June 11, 2024—KB5039227 (OS Build 20348.2527) - Microsoft Support, Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with FTP in these two updates.

It is recommended that you first check the log files of your FTP server to determine the specific cause of the problem. In the meantime, you can try reinstalling the FTP server or updating the FTP server's drivers to resolve the issue.

    Kind regards,

    Lei

    Hi Lei

Thank you for this confirmation. I have been rigorously running tests and checking the logs, but nothing out of the ordinary is happening, except with the app of our developer, so I'm quite confident the problem lies in her programming.

That aside, I do see that the logs are running behind exactly 2 hours. For some reason it is logging in CET time, while it should be marking its timestamps in CET+2. It's very strange, because the server's time is set correctly, the log files have correct timestamps, 'Use local time for file naming and rollover' is checked in FTP Logging settings, and I can't see anything related to region in basic or advanced settings.
