I run Windows Server 2008 R2 on hp EliteDesk 800 G2 TWR, Due to accident power off, windows couldn't start. Every time I start the windows it shows:

windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

  1. insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
  2. choose your languagesettings, and them click" Next."
  3. click "Repair your computer."

File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc000000d

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

Then I tried to enter setup menu "F12" and choose "System Restore F11", the windows worked and logged in. Then I found date & time of the computer is changed "01/01/2015". I fixed the date & time and then restarted the computer then unfortunately it did not boot and showed the above message....

I need help to fix this...

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

The error code 0xc000000d is a Windows error that appears when the system cannot boot to Windows due to a messy boot configuration.

Here are some solutions that might help you fix this issue:

1.Run Startup Repair: Create and insert a bootable installation media and boot your PC from it.

2.Use Command Prompt: Insert your bootable media into your PC and run the following commands:

How to Rebuild the BCD in Windows (lifewire.com)

3.Run System Restore: Insert your installation media and use the built-in system restoration tool.

4.Clean install Windows: If none of the above solutions work, you might need to reinstall Windows.

Before you start, it’s recommended to recover data from the unbootable computer first. You can use a professional data recovery software to recover various file types such as documents, photos, audio, music, videos, emails and so on.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Wei,

    Thank you for your reply.

Actually, the problem was with the bios.

I have disabled Legacy boot and disabled Secure boot while I kept UEFI boot "i could not do that until i found it on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktops-Archive-Read-Only/how-to-enable-legacy-boot-on-Elitedesk-800-G2/m-p/5392562#M168002 "

now my device is working properly without doing any recovery or fixing bcd file...
