WinRMRemoteWMIUsers__ local group on Domain Controller (Server 2019)

Hi,

I am required by palo alto support to create this group ("WinRMRemoteWMIUsers__") on my domain controller for a function on their device.

As to my understanding this group does not longer exist since Server 2016 and needs to be recreated (we use Server 2019).

NOW I do understand that I cannot create local groups on a DC but they insist there is a way to create it.

Is there any possibility to create this SPECIFIC group on a DC on server 2019? I need this exact one (I know the remote management users group is supposed to work but it does not, and that's solution I have recieved).

any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello Guy Glikson,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description above, I understand you want to create a local group (WinRMRemoteWMIUsers_) on 2019 Domain Controller.

Based on my knowledge, when a server is promoted to a Domain Controller, we cannot open/access local users and groups console and we can not manage local users and groups.

Here is a similar thread that want to create a local account on domain controller.

You may need to try to find the other solution to resolve the function on the device.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,
    Daisy Zhou
