Boot error after disconnected mirrored disk

Dear community,

good afternoon.

I've configured windows server with a mirrored disk. Now that the one disk has severed connection, I expect the server to boot again so I can rebuild the mirror.

But I get a boot error.

What do I need to do to get the server back online?

Yours sincerely,

Bjarne Petersen

Remove Mirror: This operation stops the mirroring on the volume and destroys all the data on the selected mirror disk. The data remains only on one disk, and the other disk is cleared and converted to free space.

Break Mirrored Volume: This operation stops the mirroring on the selected volume without affecting the data on any disk. The data remains intact on both disks, and each disk becomes a separate, independent volume.

    Hello,

Dynamic disks cannot be used for booting. What boot error are you getting?

To rebuild a mirrored volume, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open Disk Management: Right-click on the Start button and select "Disk Management" from the menu.
    2. Break the Mirror: If the mirror is still partially intact, right-click on the mirrored volume and select "Remove Mirror". Choose the disk that has failed or is missing.
    3. Add a New Disk: Insert a new disk into your system. Ensure that it is initialized as a dynamic disk.
    4. Recreate the Mirror: Right-click on the remaining volume and select "Add Mirror". Choose the new disk to recreate the mirrored volume.

    Dear Ian_Xue,

    good afternoon.

Thank you. Exactly as I thought. That makes it logical. I can now fairly assume that I know the difference.

You did not Collaborate on that I showed you that dynamic disks do boot. Do not ask me how I did it but I did. And now I can not recreate it. .

Thus now I broke the mirror. How do I proceed to make fault taulerant functional?

    Yours sincerely,

    Bjarne Petersen
