Remote Desktop Question

We are getting an error that says "The credentials that were used to connect to <Computer Name> did not work. Please enter new credentials" when we are using the computer name to RDP. If we use the IP address, the credentials work fine. This does not happen to everyone, and does not happen on every server/computer. It is just simply hit or miss on who it works for and which computer it works correctly on. Pinging computer name returns the correct ip address, and I verified the IP address is what is showing on the DNS server.

Here is what I have tried to resolve it: Clear Cached Credentials, Check Resource Permissions, DNS Configuration, checked their Hosts File, Verified Network Configuration, Flush DNS, Reset Winsock, Used Microsoft Remote Desktop vs Royal TS.Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Michael Born1

It seems that you've already gone through the basic troubleshooting steps. However, because the problem doesn't happen the same way for all devices or users, it's a bit tricky to figure out what's causing it precisely.

Considering this inconsistency, we recommend using Wireshark to capture network packets when you're making an RDP connection. This will give us a closer look at the network activity during these connection attempts.

    Regards,

    Karlie
