Lenovo desktop went to blue ribbon screen after update. Won’t accept password

A recent “update then shutdown” on my Lenovo desktop has made it impossible to get back in.

It’s now a blue ribbon screen (instead of random meerkats etc) at signin that won’t accept my password (which I know is right).

It’s worth noting this was a store display model I got cheaply that they never wiped or reset properly so I’ve never been able to add programs etc as I don’t have administrator permission.

I would bin it off but there’s some photos I want on it first.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    Hi DFRB21

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Understanding your problem you can't start your computer properly

You mentioned a blue ribbon screen when logging in, can you provide a picture so I can confirm the problem and help you better?

Until then you can try going into Safe Mode to see if you can boot up and log in normally.

    Go to Advanced Boot Options:

If the system fails to boot up properly a few times (usually 3), the system will automatically enter “Auto Repair” mode. (You can try to force shutting down your computer and restarting it a few times to see if you can get into this mode.)

In the “Auto Repair” screen, select “Advanced Options”.

    Select “Troubleshooting”.

Then select “Advanced Options” -> “Startup Settings” -> “Reboot”.

    Enter Safe Mode

After rebooting, press the corresponding number key (usually F5) to enter “Safe Mode” or “Safe Mode with Network Connection”.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

This is what the screen looks like:

Trying to get into safe mode brings this screen. There’s nowhere to enter anything and the enter key doesn’t work anyway.

Again this is store display model they failed to wipe properly so I’ve never had admin access.

It was still fine till yesterday when an update ruined it
