Hi, I have a single server with six users. I want all six users to be able to use RDP on the same server without any users being kicked out. Currently, only two users can use the server using RDP. I have a VPS where the Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition is installed. Please help me resolve this issue.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community forum.

By default, Windows Server 2022 Standard supports only two concurrent RDP connections. To allow all six users to use the Remote Desktop Services on Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition at the same time, you need to install the RDS role, configure the license server, and purchase the Remote Desktop Services Client Access License (RDS CALs).

The following article will help you understand how to deploy a remote desktop environment:

    Best regards

    Hello,

I understand your need to allow six users to use remote desktop services simultaneously on Windows Server 2022. I'm sorry we don't have a video guide, but I hope the additional information below will help you understand RDS deployment.

The Per Device model would be appropriate in an environment where there are two or more shifts using the same computers to access the RD Session Hosts.

The Per User model would be best for environments where each user has their own dedicated Windows devices to access the RD Session Hosts.

Since you have 6 users, Per User CAL may be more flexible, unless you have a specific number of devices that will be used for RDP. It depends on your production environment. For more on the differences between the two, you can read this article:

Remote Desktop Licensing Demystified | Microsoft Learn

You can purchase RDS CAL directly from the Microsoft Store. Here's a direct link to buy them:

Windows Remote Desktop Server CAL 2022

To configure the License Server and install and install the RDS CAL, refer to the following guide. If you are not familiar with the deployment process, you can directly use the phone activation method for this part of the operation.

    Jacen,

If RDS roles are configured, but no CAL licenses are installed, would that reduce the default "two concurrent RDP connections" to "one single session?" That is what we are experiencing.

    Thank you,

    Nick
