Brother MFC Scanning stops with 24H2

We have 25 computers, a mix of Dell and HP with 5 Brother MFC-L8900CDW printers/scanners. Some of the computer were not seen on the printer console when scanning until I reinstalled the Brother Full package software or received blank PDFs. We were able to determine that the computers that had the 24H2 upgrade were the ones that went offline with scanning. Of the three I found thus far, I was only able to rollback one and once I returned to 23H2 it begin to receive its scans. I contacted Brother Tech Support and they said, SEE MICROSOFT for support since they were aware of the problem. Of course, Microsoft Tech Support will not speak or allow me to submit a ticket since we don't pay for support for issues they created.

Slowly the other computers will received the 24H2 upgrade and none of the printers will be able to scan to those computers too. What in the heck is going on and how do I fix this? There are too many computers to backup, do a clean install of Windows 11 Pro, reinstall the applications, profiles and data and stop the upgrade at 23H2. There must be a simpler way to fix this.

Any suggestions or anyone at Microsoft who sees that it is a Microsoft problem, please let me know ASAP. Thank you.

Nothing works. The printer is on the network, not connected via USB. The way Brother MFC-L8900CDW scans is you walk up to the printer, place the page you want to scan, open the console and choose SCAN, FILE to PC and choose your PC that is listed. Unless we have a solution to 24H2 that allows that feature of the Brother printer to scan, then we're still up the creek without a paddle. Microsoft, PLEASE fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same problem here with an MFC-L2800DW connected to the network (lan) and the solution provided by Microsoft with the KB5048667 patch does not work.

From the little search i did i found out that the scanning drivers do not state the correct printer/scanner name (name not available).

Also iprint&scan when the scan is initiated from the pc, works but not with the twain driver.

    Same with paperport 14se.

Furthermore an error related to brother utilities missing the machine name is generated every 1 sec in the event viewer.

Do note that the printer/scanner is 3 months old

When reverted 1 pc to 23h2 everything worked fine.

    Hello sir.

Microsoft has provided a solution to the problem that you are experiencing after upgrading from Windows 11 23H2 to Windows 11 24H2 that your printer cannot scan to your computer. This issue is mainly due to a faulty eSCL protocol in Windows 11, version 24H2, which prevents the device from switching from eSCL mode to USB mode when needed, causing connectivity issues. Microsoft has addressed this issue with Windows Update (KB5048667) and later released on December 10, 2024.

You can try following these steps:

Make sure that your computer has the latest Windows update, which is KB5048667 or later. This can be done through the Windows Update feature.

    2024 年 12 月 10 日 - KB5048667(操作系统内部版本 26100.2605)- Microsoft 支持

If you've already installed the latest update and the problem persists, here are some things you can try:

Restart your computer, check that the printer driver is up to date, and if not, update the printer driver.

If your printer supports the eSCL protocol, make sure that the printer is set up correctly and that it is able to switch from eSCL mode to USB mode correctly.

Check and restart the Print Spooler service. Manually add the printer again after removing it, making sure to replace the current driver.

    Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with my MFC-L3770 CDW printer. Scanning from device to file is not working for me. The only solution that helped me was to upgrade to Windows 11 23H2. Now everything is working as it should again.

I also had this problem and have had to resort to a work round till it is sorted. Mind you I see this string dates from 2022. I have a 'media' usb socket on my Brother printer and save the scans to the thumb drive and then take the thumb drive to my pc and copy over the scans. 'Save to PDF' result also caught me unawares and wasted an hour.

    I hope this is helpful.
