I followed intructions from this tutorial

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/rds-activate-license-server

until i can't find RD Licensing Manager from "Remote Desktop Services - Servers - RD Licensing Manager".

I purchased also a windows server 2022 standard 16 cores for DELL server and activated this license without any issues.

I'm stuck.

    Hello   AdrianPadureanu,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble activating your Windows Server CAL 2022. The RD Licensing Manager is a component of the Remote Desktop Services role, which needs to be installed on the server before you can activate the CAL. Here are the steps to install the Remote Desktop Services role:

    1. Open Server Manager and select "Add Roles and Features".
    2. Click Next until you reach the "Server Roles" page.
    3. Select "Remote Desktop Services" and click Next.
    4. Select "Remote Desktop Licensing" and click Next.
    5. Click Install to begin the installation.

Once the Remote Desktop Services role is installed, you should be able to find the RD Licensing Manager under "Remote Desktop Services" in Server Manager. From there, you can activate your CAL using the instructions in the tutorial you mentioned.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Haijian Shan

    Hi Haijian Shan,

    Thank you for your response.

I already installed all remote desktop services: rd connection broker, rd gateway, rd licensing, rd session host, rd virtualization and rd web acces.

Also I want to inform you that under "server manager- remote desktop server- overview" I have a message:

"You are currently logged on as local administrator on the computer. You must be logged on as a domain user to manage server and collections."

    What is the next step?

    Thank you

    Adrian

    Hello  AdrianPadureanu,

    Thank you for your reply.

It sounds like you have already installed the Remote Desktop Services role on your server, which is great. Regarding the message you are seeing, it is recommending that you log in as a domain user to manage the server and collections. If you have a domain set up, you can log in with a domain user account.

If you don't have a domain set up, you can still manage the server and collections as a local administrator. To do this, you can right-click on the "Remote Desktop Services" node in Server Manager and select "Connect to Server". Then, enter the name of the server you want to manage and select "Connect".

Once you are connected, you should be able to see the RD Licensing Manager under "Remote Desktop Services". From there, you can activate your CAL using the instructions in the tutorial you mentioned.

    Best Regards,

    Haijian Shan

    Hello Haijian Shan,

I managed to find rd licensing via:

Server Manager -Tools -Remote deskop services-Remote dekstop licensing manager

I activated without even entering some license.

Now it says my server name, activation status "Activated", configuration OK.

License version and type: windows 2000 server - build in ts per device cal, license program build-in, total licenses unlimited, available unlimited

Inside cartboard package i don't have a serial number only a Tracking ID.

    What is the next step?

    Thank you

    Adrian
