Everytime I try to open my laptop, a screen appears which says, "Something went wrong and your PIN isn't available (code: ********). Click to set up your pin again". When I try to set up my PIN again, a second screen appears which asks "are you sure"? What is the problem and how can I resolve it?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

The error message “Something went wrong and your PIN isn’t available (code: 0x80284001)” usually appears when there’s an issue with the PIN login feature on your Windows device. Here are a few solutions you can try to resolve this issue:

Delete NGC folder and add a new PIN code:

    • Go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC.
    • In the NGC folder, delete all the files. You must be logged in as an Administrator to do this.
    • Now go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options. Click Add a PIN and add a new PIN code for your account.

Switch to a local account, then add a PIN code:

    • Go to Settings > Accounts and locate your account.
    • Click Sign in with a Local Account instead.
    • Follow the instructions to set up a local account.
    • Sign out and sign in with your local account.
    • Now add a PIN code.
    • After you’ve added your PIN code, locate your account under the Accounts section in Settings.
    • Choose Sign in with a Microsoft Account instead.

Use Command Prompt to activate the Administrator account:

    • On the Windows sign-in screen, press and hold the Shift key, then select Power > Restart.
    • After your machine reboots, click on Troubleshoot under Choose an option.
    • Click on Advanced options > select Command Prompt.
    • On the command prompt window, type net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter.

Thanks for your earlier reply Wei Li_1123.

I can go till here i.e. C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService. Can't locate AppData and beyond that in my system. So, how to proceed?

Hey I tried to do this but my Laptop isn't connected to the wifi and since it is locked it can not be connected to wifi now.

And this can not be done without the internet.

Is there any other way of doing it?
