Dual Booting and Bitlocker on Windows 11 Home

I am trying to set up dual boot on my laptop to use windows and linux on seperate partitions. I haver created and installed the linux OS on the second partition, and disabled secure boot. But when I try to boot into into it from the BIOS, I get a request prompting me for my bit locker key. I'm confused as i am using Windows 11 home and thought this did not have bit locker... But when I enter the key from my Microsoft account, it boots into windows. I have searched for ways to disable Bitlocker, but bit locker does not show up anywhere in y control panel or settings. I am at a loss as it seems like I have the "protection" of bit locker from a pro edition, but only the management optinos of home edition, ie none. Any one else encounter this and how did you fix it?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to dual boot.

Windows 11 Home does not officially support BitLocker, it only support "Device Encryption", Device Encryption is a Windows feature that enables BitLocker encryption automatically for the Operating System drive and fixed drives. It’s particularly beneficial for everyday users who want to ensure their personal information is safe without having to manage complex security settings.

When you first sign in or set up a device with a Microsoft account, or work or school account, Device Encryption is turned on and a recovery key is attached to that account. If you're using a local account, Device Encryption isn't turned on automatically.

Try run below command turn off:

    manage-bde -off C:

    manage-bde -status

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly

Hi Molly! Thank you so much! That worked! Also now I understand why there was the prompt for bit locker on my home edition. Thanks for the help and knowledge!
