HELP

Hello, I recently got locked out of my computer through the bitlocker recovery. Though, I no longer have access to the microsoft account connected to my computer because it is a work email from a job I no longer work at. I have extremely important documents on my computer that I cannot afford to lose. Please let me know if anyone had a solution that does bot include resetting my computer. Thank you

    Hello Jonah Farahi,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

Unfortunately, BitLocker encryption is designed to be very secure, and without the BitLocker recovery key or access to the Microsoft account that was linked, options are quite limited. There are some addition steps you can try to find your recovery key: Find your BitLocker recovery key - Microsoft Support.

Also, it is recommended reach out to your previous employer's IT department. Explain the situation and see if they can either provide the recovery key or temporarily reactivate your email account so you can access the key.

Please note BitLocker's security means unauthorized access is highly unlikely without the recovery key. If you exhaust these options and are unable to retrieve the key, you may face a difficult decision regarding data recovery versus data loss.

**Important:**Microsoft Support is unable to provide, or recreate, a lost BitLocker recovery key.

    Best regards,

    Lei
