Windows 10 Update Killed Startup Apps

My Windows 10 is Windows 10 Pro for Workstations 22H2

Few days back I have received the following updates -

  • KB5037768 (OS Builds 19044.4412 and 19045.4412)
  • KB5038285 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2
  • KB5001716: Update for Windows Update Service components

After these updates, my windows is not starting the start-up apps (e.g. OneDrive) after logging-in to my account. This is happening in 2 of my devices. Had to execute the apps through Task Scheduler.

Does Microsoft Windows Team know about it?

    Hello  Omi Azad,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

It sounds like the recent Windows 10 updates may have caused some issues with your startup apps. It's possible that the updates may have caused some compatibility issues with your apps.

One thing you can try is to check the startup settings in Task Manager to make sure that your apps are set to start automatically when you log in. To do this, right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager. Then, click on the Startup tab and make sure that the apps you want to start automatically are enabled.

I hope the above information is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.

    Best regards

    Phoebe Jin

    Hello Jin,

Yes, apps are on Startup tab and after booting my PC when I log-in for the first time, they do not run. When I log-off and log back in, they works. This is very funny of Microsoft.
