I've been looking through a variety of articles to see if this is true or not, but I figure I ask directly. Does Windows Server 2019 support TLS 1.3? Is there a list out there to show what operating systems support which protocols?

    Hi fernando97GY

    Windows Server 2019 don't support TLS 1.3.

For more information, please refer to this official link:

    Hope the information is helpful.

I see that the above suggests that Windows 21019 doe snot support 1.3. With all the updates since Sept 2023, is that still the case?

    Hello, Xiuyun Lian

I also checked the incompatibility and in some references (not Microsoft) I see that Windows Server 2019 Build 1903 is supporting TLS 1.3. But Microsoft is still showing not supported https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/secauthn/protocols-in-tls-ssl--schannel-ssp-#tls-protocol-version-support . Could you please let me know how is the current status?

    Best regards,

    Egi T.

As far as I can tell and understand Windows Server 2019 refers to the 1809 release (LTSC channel). Windows Server 1903, 1909 etc. refers to the SAC channel and applies to the core release (using 2019). The latest updates to Windows Server 2019 will not include the same updates found in a Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel release or a Windows Server Annual Channel release (currently using 2022). This comparison is similar to Insider releases. So based on how the official documentation is presented, the information is correct. Windows Server 2019 does not officially support those new features. If you are running a Windows Server SAC (2019) or AC (2022) build then newer features may be available. Any documentation that references that name or channel will have the updated features unlike Windows Server 2019 (LTSC). Since Server 2019 is out of mainstream support, no newer features will be officially added. If it happens to work by registry or file hacking, that is not the same as official support and may not lead to a recommended or safe system configuration.

So comparing the differences is like comparing Office 2019 to Office 365. Office 2019 is the LTSC channel and Office 365 (based on 2019) is like the SAC/AC channel). The next Office is 2024 (LTSC) and the newer versions of Office 365 will be based on 2024.
