Hi there,

I'm looking to upgrade our Windows Server. We are using Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. When I check the KB 'which-version-of-windows-server-should-i-upgrade-to', I find that the Chinese version says Windows Server Standard 2012 R2 can upgrade to Windows Server 2022 directly, but in English version there is no information about Windows Server Standard 2012 R2. Could anyone please help to tell me the actual answer? Thank you.

    Hi Bruce Wang_Z,

according to the official article (Overview of Windows Server upgrades | Microsoft Learn), perform an in-place upgrade of 2012 R2 to 2022 is not supported.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Lei

    Hi Lei Tao,

Thanks for your reply. In the Chinese version, I see it mentioned Server 2012 R2 Standard. But in the English version, it only mentioned Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2. So I want to know if Server 2012 R2 Standard is included in Server 2012 R2?

    Hello Bruce Wang_Z,

right, Server 2012 R2 Standard is included in Server 2012 R2. In fact, I can't understand why the content of the Chinese version is different from the English version. In order to confirm it, it is recommended that you contact Microsoft support team to confirm. Here is the link: Global Customer Service phone numbers - Microsoft Support.
