A Hyper-V VM with TPM enabled on Windows 11 24H2 host failed to start once the Windows update got installed since Dec 2024

I've got this issue with KB5050009, KB5050094 and KB5051987. If I disable the TPM for the VM I can start it. The BIOS for my machine is up to date. I've seen someone else got this issue too but still no solution from Microsoft yet.

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your Hyper-V VM on Windows 11 24H2 host. Since this seems to be a known issue with specific Windows updates and TPM enabled on the VM, I recommend keeping an eye on the Microsoft support page for any updates or fixes related to this issue. In the meantime, disabling TPM for the affected VM seems to be a temporary workaround to start the VM successfully.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Hania

I hope the fix will be available before 25H2 got released!
