I have been able to get the screenshot to upload.
Notepad - The resource loader cache doesn't have a loaded MUI entry
Hi,
All of our Windows 11 machines running the new version of notepad are encountering an error when users try to save a file directly to their network drives. A popup just appears in the middle of the window with "Notepad" as the title; then "The resource loader cache doesn't have a loaded MUI entry." in the body. For whatever reason I am unable to attach an image of this as it just says "Failed to upload".
So far, we have tried across several different environments - when saving a file directly to the drive from one of our Server 2022 machines, or from a Windows Sandbox VM which both still have the old notepad instance it works fine. However when you switch to something using the new notepad - even a bare Windows 11 install which is not domain joined and doesn't have any of our software, the issue still occurs.
I have tried an sfc /scannow as some posts have recommended however there are no corrupt/damaged files found. There is also no error that I can find anywhere in Event Viewer and all other instances of this issue that we can find online are for other apps, and usually third party ones.
This issue doesn't appear to occur when users save to a "communal" drive which many staff have access to via an Active Directory group, however when saving to their own personal drives, this happens. They have full read/write permissions over their own network drive.
This is not an issue we have ever ran into before or had reported, even until recently. There's nothing that we have changed on our end as far as we are aware which would be able to cause this.
Most of our Staff laptops are Dell Latitude 3410's, however we also have some Latitude 3300, 3310, 5300, 3420, 3440 and 7390 models around and a few MS Surface machines. They are all kept up to date using Configuration Manager for Windows Updates and Dell SupportAssist for Drivers. The majority of our machines are now Windows 11 with a lot being 23H2 but we also still have 22H2 and 21H2 around. The issue happens on 23H2 and 22H2 machines, and unfortunately I do not have a 21H2 machine to hand to test with but I would have thought it is the same situation if they have updated to the new notepad.
We have a Dell EMC 5020 Storage Array and Dell Compellent FS8600 FluidFS controller handling all of the network drives.
Many thanks.

2024-08-19T09:47:07+00:00 We have the same problem...
It was introduced with Notepad 11.2406.9.0 and only seems to affect certain (not all) DFS shares for us...
Saving to the server share directly seems to make the error go away.
Rolling Notepad back to 11.2405.13.0 also fixes the problem but Windows Update will keep upgrading it unless you manage to get it pinned.

2024-08-20T08:21:54+00:00 Another solution is,
- Uninstalling notepad from Windows 11 via App settings,
- Disabling Automatic Updates from Microsoft Store,
If you then are running a program like Autodesk Inventor 2022 that can generate .NC .NDC .TXT files etc. Then an older version of Notepad will open even when you have uninstalled it because Windows has Notepad built into the OS.
