AD Migration and Groups

I need to migrate 2 domains in to a third domain. Both current domains have SCCM with collections based on AD Groups (Security Group Name). So lets say there is a group in each called SCCM-Writer. If I create an OU structure in both domains, app.company.com, throw the groups in to the app OU, create the same structure in the new domain, then migrate the old domains to the new domain, will it merge the two old groups together as one group in the new domain?

    Hi Tony,

When you migrate the two domains to the third domain, the security groups with the same name will be merged into a single group in the new domain. However, it is important to note that the group membership will not be merged automatically. You will need to manually add the members of the old groups to the new merged group in the new domain. Additionally, you will need to update any references to the old groups in SCCM collections to point to the new merged group in the new domain.

    Best regards,

    Qiuyang
