Good afternoon!

I have a problem, I have a backup folder in an external disk, from a drive in my computer with Windows 11 and bitlocker are activated, I made a restoration of my computer and now I can´t access to these files, I have the keys of bitlocker, but I don´t know where use it, because when I try to open these files I just get an error.

Is there any hope to restore there files?

Thanks!

    Hi MiguelMig,

you can use the BitLocker recovery key to unlock the drive and access your files. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Connect the external disk to your computer.
    2. Open File Explorer and navigate to the external disk.
    3. Double-click on the encrypted folder to open it.
    4. You will be prompted to enter the BitLocker recovery key. Enter the key and click "Unlock".
    5. Once the drive is unlocked, you should be able to access your files.

If you forget your recovery key, please refer to Finding your BitLocker recovery key in Windows - Microsoft Support to find it.

    Hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

    Lei
