Hello,
Typically, when a temporary CAL is assigned, it will allocate a device CAL. The problem arises when the CAL issued is the temporary one rather than the CAL you installed on the license server. Here are some points to consider:
1. Have you specified the license server and set the license mode?
Ensure that the licensing mode aligns with the type of CALs you possess (either Per User or Per Device). This configuration can be managed through group policies. Path: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Licensing
2. Have you checked for errors using the Remote License Diagnostic?
3. Have you verified the compatibility of your RDS CALs with both the license server and session host?
Ensure that your license server and session host support the versions of CALs you have.
4. Have you confirmed network connectivity between the RDSH server and the license server?
Validate the connection using tools like ping to ensure seamless communication.
5. Additionally, have you reviewed the event log for any error messages?
Check for any relevant error messages in the event log that might provide insights into licensing or connectivity issues.
