Backup function in Server 2022

The backup function of Server 2022 does not offer "Incremental Backup" any more.

This function was available few months ago, but now it is not offered any more.

Is this caused due to an update or other issue?

What can I do to get the incremental function back?

Alternatively:
How can I re-install the backup function (hope that this might fix this issue)?

Side information:

  • Win Server 2022 Version 21H2, Build: 20348.2113
  • Source: 2 x 16TB internal SSD
  • Target: 48TB Ext. USB HDD (Raid 5) (I also tried internal HHDs as target, but without success).
  • Meanwhile I also tried to use AOMEI Backup Server, but the License politics is not attractive for me.

    Hi J,

    Hope you're doing well.

Note: Since one backup cannot achieve incremental backup, we need to perform multiple backups to achieve this.

To schedule an Incremental backup, you can use the Windows Server Backup console. Here are some steps to follow:

    1. In the Actions pane, click Backup Schedule to start the Backup Schedule Wizard.
    2. On the Select Backup Configuration page, select Custom, and then click Next.
    3. On the Select Items for Backup page, click Add Items to select the volume(s) to be backed up, and then click OK.
    4. On the Specify Backup Time page, select the frequency and time for the backup, and then click Next.
    5. On the Specify Destination Type page, select the backup destination, and then click Next.
    6. On the Confirmation page, review the backup settings, and then click Finish.

Hope my answer can help you.
