Windows 11 cant access network shares

So I had to reinstall windows 11 on my home pc. I have network shares I use for file storage, and the shares still work fine from any computer OTHER than this one I just installed windows 11 on. I have a service running oin the windows 10 PC, and I can access that service on a specific port, so the network is good, I can access the shares from any other computer on this network, and I could from this PC before I had to reinstall.

I have tried all the fixes I have found online.

Adding a user on the other PC (I never get asked for the username and pass)

Turning on / off the password requirement for file sharing on the windows 11 pc

turning on SMB

pinging the other machine, as I said before I can access other services on that computer, just not files shares.

The shared drives have the correct permissions, as I could access them before the reinstall, and from any other PC

I can share a folder on the windows 11 PC, and access that from another computer, but not the other way

all I get is

Error 0x80004005

Unspecified error

If its helpful, I have windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2605) and no updates are available.

Anyone have any advice? I am stumped as I have gone over all the suggestions I can find, and still nothing

It has to be windows 11 new install, but is there a way to fix this?

Thank you

    Hello,

If your system is windows 11 24H2 version I suspect the problem may be caused by SMB signature. I recommend that you open PowerShell as an administrator and run the following command to disable SMB signing and restart your computer to see if you can fix the problem:

    Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false

I have had the same problem trying to get this new computer I purchased to network with my other computers. It is so frustrating - every new version of windows you practically have to take a college course to figure out the new "user friendly" procedures with each new version.

I followed the instructions of using powershell and it says " access is denied". Maybe its because when I setup this computer MS automatically used an ancient email account that I haven't used in about 15 years and that doesn't even exist anymore. I have no clue how it did this on a brand new computer especially since my teenage son who knew nothing about that other email address set this up for me. Now I can't get it off without it deleting my files and I can't seem to get the computer to switch to the MS account that I currently use.

All I want to do is get my MAC and other PC to recognize this computer so that I can share files between the two, The MAC can access this computer as a guest but cannot access any files. It asks for a username and password - I tried every combination I can think of. This new PC cannot see the MAC at all. Since the MAC suddenly stopped supporting OneDrive I can't use that to sync files.

Please, help!!! It is annoying to have to transport files with a USB drive every time and then try to ensure my files are synced.
