Good afternoon,

I am trying to set up a new laptop for a new hire and am getting a message that the microsoft user does not exist. I am the Admin and have created a user account under our business domain.

Why is the username not found?

    Hi Felicia Sa,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

    Solution

Check the account name and password:

Verify that the Microsoft account name and password entered are correct.

    Check account status:

Log in to Microsoft's account management page (e.g., the official Microsoft account website) to check the status and settings of the account.

    Synchronize the account:

If the account was created recently, wait a period of time to ensure that the account information is synchronized in the Microsoft system.

Use the correct type of account:

Make sure you are using the correct type of account (such as a personal Microsoft account or a work or school account) to log in.

    Check the network connection:

Make sure your laptop is connected to a stable network so that you can verify account information.

    Reset password or unlock account:

If an account is locked or the password is forgotten, you can unlock the account or reset the password through Microsoft's password reset process.

    Check local account settings:

If you are setting up your account in a Windows operating system, make sure that your Microsoft account is properly configured in Settings > Accounts > Your Information. Check Domain Account Synchronization.

    Check domain account synchronization:

If your business uses domain services such as Active Directory, make sure that the domain accounts are properly synchronized to Microsoft Azure AD or other related services.

    Best regards

    Neuvi
