Windows Server 2019 setup as PDC, and Remote desktop server. Remote Desktop Services server role not working.

The system was working fine one day, the next, we could not use RDP to connect to the server at all. We have removed the role of RDP server, re-installed the roll, reinstalled the license, etc. The license manager looks good, however the License diagnoser has 2 warnings

  1. The Remote Desktop Session Host server is within its grace period, but the RD Session Host server has not been configured with any license server.

2., The licensing mode for the Remote Desktop Session Host server is not configured.

Also, I have tried to get support from Microsoft on this and even paid the$$$ and can get no response from them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello NCU Manager,

Considering the two warnings, have you correctly identified the Remote Desktop License Server and configured the license mode using both the GUI and group policy?

Additionally, please check for any error messages in the event log.

It's generally not recommended to install RDS on a DC due to security risks and performance concerns. If an unauthorized user gains access through a remote desktop connection, there is a potential risk of compromising the entire domain. Furthermore, running RDS on a PDC may adversely impact the performance of crucial domain services, potentially affecting the overall stability of the Domain Controller.

    Regards,

    Karlie
