Error in printing from RDP Session "Event ID : 372" in Windows 11

Hello everyone,

We have 2 Computers with printer attached directly on them through USB cable. Details are as follow:

Computer1 (RDP Server): Windows 11 Pro (Version=24H2, OS Build= 26100.2605)
Printer1= HP LaserJet Pro MFPM125-M126 PCLmS (driver version= 11.21.0.2679)

Computer2 (RDP Client): Windows 11 Pro (Version=24H2, OS Build= 26100.2605)
Printer2= HP LaserJet Pro MFPM125-M126 PCLmS (driver version= 11.21.0.2679)

When we connect Computer1 (RDP server) from Computer2 through RDP session, all printers (physical & virtual) on Computer2 get redirected in RDP session. But when we try to print any document on out HP LaserJet printer (as mentioned above), it fails and we checked the logs into the Event Viewer of RDP Server PC(Computer-1), it shows event with ID 372..!

We have same printer on both the sides and have same latest drivers on both the computers.

When we print to "Microsoft Print to PDF (Redirected)", it gets printed..! Error is only with HP LaserJet printer.

Regards,

Sagar Patel

    Hello,

To better troubleshoot and narrow down the issue, could you please provide more information about this problem?

    • Have you attempted to replace the device-specific driver with the universal printer driver for this printer?
    • Additionally, could you share the details associated with the event that has an ID of 372?

    Thank you,

    Karlie Weng

    Hi Karlie

I'm having a similar issue; we just updated our print drivers to Type4 universal print drivers. We we're previously using Type3 drivers.

    Here are the details

    Print Server is Server 2019

Has all the Windows Updates applied. Client computers are a mixed of W10 and W11 24H2

First I installed the new driver and then changed the driver in the existing print queue.

That's when we started getting errors.

    I stopped the print spooler,

    Deleted the contents of

    C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS

    and

    C:\Windows\System32\spool\V4Dirs

    Deleted the print queue

    Rebooted the server

    Created new print queues

    And I'm still getting errors.

Here are the details of the error.

The document Print Document, owned by <USERNAME>, failed to print on printer <PRINTER NAME>. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.

Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 567816. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: <WORKSTATION NAME>. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 1392. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

The issue I notice is that the job stuck in the print queue until I cancel all the jobs and reboot the server again.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Is the print function working properly on Computer2? As we've been receiving numerous complaints about printing issues since the recent update.

Yes, on computer-2, local USB printer is working properly.

We have same printer model on both the sides and have installed latest drivers on both sides.

We downloaded drivers from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-m125-series/5396664

We also checked driver update with their "HP Update" tool, but did not get any update.
