Cannot map to network share of same server using different credentials.

Team,

I know for the previous versions of SMB protocol and windows versions. The mapping of network share of same server cannot be mapped using different credentials as it says or throws error while mapping saying.

" The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different username and password" error.

But what I want to know is, whether this problem has been resolved in recent/latest version of SMB protocol or windows? or its not resolved? If so, why?... is there any other particular reason on why we cannot map using different credentials rather than saying it is by design.?

    Hello Jayaram666

This behavior is by design and is intended to prevent unauthorized access to network resources.

When you map a network drive, Windows typically uses the credentials of the currently logged-in user to establish the connection. Allowing multiple sets of credentials for a single mapped drive could lead to security risks. For example, if one set of credentials grants read-only access and another set grants read-write access, it could create confusion and potentially lead to unauthorized access.

In this case, you can use the IP address of the remote server when you try to connect to the network share.
