Window inaccessible off-screen in Remote App

We run several applications on servers that the users access through a RemoteApp link on their desktop. These are not full RDP sessions; the user just gets the application in a window on their desktop. When the application pops up a window off-screen, the user can't see it or use the usual tools (Alt-Space, Win+arrow keys) to move it back into position. I can replicate this by opening a RemoteApp session, selecting an option that would pop up a new window and then minimizing that window. The current fix is to notify our help desk and have someone kill the user's session from the server.

My first question is how can the user bring the off-screen window back into focus?

Secondly, is there a best practice when creating these RemoteApp links to prevent this problem?

    Hello,

    1. When RemoteApp pops up a window off the screen, you can try to adjust the resolution, sometimes repositioning all the windows into view:

    (1) Right-click on the desktop and select "Display Settings".

    (2) In the "Display" section, temporarily reduce the screen resolution, and then return to the original resolution.

    1. When creating these RemoteApp links, ensuring a consistent resolution configuration between the client and the session host can reduce the incorrect pop-up location.

Click win+R open Run, enter gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy Editor, navigates to: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Remote Session Environment, sets the policy Limit Maximum Display Resolution, sets it to Enabled, and specifies the appropriate resolution.

    I hope this information helps.

    Best regards,

    Karlie Weng
